Texas couple sentenced to prison after pit bulls killed 81-year-old man
If I see one more example of Cocker Spaniels killing someone I might start asking how is this breed legal.

Well first off "Pit bull" is not actually a breed.
Second of all all canines are predators and well I have yet to see a case of a mauling that is not more about crappy humans.
At one time these kinds of dogs were called nursemaid dogs because they were good with kids.
And the media has a freakout about various large breeds over time.
German Sheppards and Doberman dogs were the enemy of the moral panic in the 80s and 90s.

Pretty sure poodles attack more people than any other breed of dog . But they rarely do more damage than a few stitches.

One stat I saw had 66% of Fatal Dog Bite Deaths Caused by Pit Bulls
From their data collection, they found 346 of 521 deaths were from pit bull attacks. Rottweilers made up 10%, followed by German Shepherds, mixed-breed, American Bulldog, Mastiffs, and Huskies.
