I Stayed (An Emotional Song for Anyone Who Has Lost a Pet)

Our oldest dog, Milo, died earlier this week. He belonged to my oldest daughter but she asked us to take him last autumn when caring for him became overwhelming. She had a three year old and a newborn baby daughter to care for. While with us, his health improved some as he gained weight, had a better appetite, and more energy. But the years had taken their toll.
His passing was relatively pain free, I believe. He had a few seizures leading up to that time, but slipped into a coma and passed—surrounded by love.
I am awaiting the return of his ashes and then I will take them to my daughter. Milo’s ashes will be there with those of Kitty his litter mate who passed a week before he did.
I hope that this song brings some comfort to any who hear it and know the pain of losing a pet.
