A Poem for Orange the Energetic Stray Cat
It is with a heavy heart that Orange (our stray cat) passed away this afternoon. It felt like a whiplash because my cousin is preparing her for her vet visits, injections and stuff so we can fully adopt her to our home.
This is one of those days I question the joy and ease I’ve been feeling because a part of me knew it would turn sour sooner or later.
Not even a full week streak of happiness and the bad news came - catching me like a deer in the headlights.
My cats would miss fighting her paws from the space under the door. I would miss her, too.

A ball of sun, she was.
Sweet — yet spicy.
Her tail so short, her patience too.
She brightened our early mornings
with meows and hisses.
And today, suddenly, the rain poured —
not only from the clouds,
but from our eyes.
And just like that,
our little sun
became the moon.
Sweet — yet spicy.
Her tail so short, her patience too.
She brightened our early mornings

And today, suddenly, the rain poured —

And just like that,
