Have you ever given away your Pet?

My maid adopted my pet rabbit because I used to suffer from anxiety and also had to leave hometown for college and my job at a politicians’s place which required me to stay there. Me and my friend gave away the rabbit thinking she will take good care of him as the her husband had started working and she will be stay-at-home wife. We also gave her extra-veggies and some money for other needs, and turns out, the week she took her, she cooked him up and ate him.
There’s not much powerful animal laws here so couldn’t do anything when i got to know.
