Boo-Boo Woke Up Chattering, Use Phrases and Voice Tones Like Humans Do, He’s a Little Chatter-Churn…

Being quiet at the moment, probably getting a bite to eat and then back to chattering away. He’s already said “Take care of me” so possessive if I do anything for anyone else, even notices if I carry food out for the feral cat…has said before “You’re kidding me!” When I did that. I go into the kitchen and start cooking and he starts saying “Take care of me”. He just wants my full attention and to be the number one child in this house.

What kind of bird is he Patti?

@Monday2 Little blue parakeet. He has the best personality of any parakeet I’ve ever had. So easy for him to learn to talk and pick up new words and phrases and he apparently knows what most of them mean…he uses the proper pronouns, proper context to what is relevant. He will ask me if I’m OK sometimes and ask me if I slept after I wake up in my recliner. He worries about me when I stay in my room all day when I don’t have energy, wants me to come into the living and sit in my recliner close to his cage and interact with him, makes him so cheerful on days that I do that. I can talk to him and have short conversations and he seems to understand. He was asking about my food when I made blueberry crepes asking over and over “What do we have?” It occurred to me that he might want to take a close-up view and I showed them to him on my plate and explained about the crepe, the blueberry filing and the whipped cream. Adding that they were for humans and not birds. His reply was “For birds”, meaning he wanted to taste them. Got one of the plain crepes and tore it up and gave each bird a piece of it and they nibbled away on it. So now when he says “What do we have?” I’ll show them my food. Every parakeet eyeballed the food when I showed them and told them about it.

@SW-User I could write a book about the parakeets I’ve had in the past 20 years. They pick up things so easily. I guess I am more in tune with them as well. My Cherokee ancestors clan was the Red Hawk Clan also known as the Bird Clan. I didn’t know this until a few years ago but suspected it was that clan because I have always loved birds and even wanted to catch wild ones with my hand, which I have done since I was a teenager a few times. It is a thrill to me to catch one and release it. I had a young crow that I fed cornbread to and let it go. He came back till October every day and would fly alongside my car when I drove to work and waited on the mailbox after learning when I would come home each late afternoon and would fly alongside me back up the driveway to the house again. Did it for months.

Ida - that's you, right? - if you do write a book please keep as much of your way of putting things as possible.

Crows! In your experience are they the smartest birds? Overall?

@SW-User I think Ravens are smart but other birds have learned to use tools as well. I think Cockatoos, I saw a video recently.

I saw a vid a while back where these birds (maybe Cockatoos) were tasked with getting food pellets out of a container by using a choice of various "implements" like little sticks for the job.

@SW-User Might have been the same video I saw. I watch a lot so don’t exactly remember.

@cherokeepatti I'm looking for a pet since I lost toby. I think a little talking bird would be the perfect thing. I have been thinking about a lot of different things.

@Monday2 I talk to my birds like they are about 4 years old. They seem to understand and learn a lot that way. They like to be showed things and for me to talk about it when I do.

You must read this. Much of the middle part deals with Tesla's experiments but you can skip past that.
