If I put these fish in will they get ick?

So as you may or may not know I have a 5.5 gallon planted aquarium with a Nerite snail 🐌. Two or three weeks ago I had fish in there but they all died of ick. Since then I have replaced at least 70% of the water. I am thinking of catching mosquito fish from the body of water behind where I live to see how they do. If they start showing signs of ick would it be wise to release them back?

Ich CANNOT survive without a fish host. They have 3 life stages and the torments, the ones on the fish, die in a few hours if they don't find a fish to attach to.

So if no fish are in a tank, two weeks later, Ich are gone too. Probably sooner than that but better safe than sorry. You can raise the temp to over 86 F and really speed up their demise. Even if they are heat and salt and med resistant, the lack of fish hosts kills them all.

You're going to have to recycle the filter, which is too bad. But no need to go nuts cleaning."

What do you mean by recycling the filter? Change the filter cartridge inside? @Mamapolo2016
