Communicating with the unseen World

I recently listened to an ambient music selection online which was intended to be rather "spooky" (for Halloween, I suppose). This selection piqued my interest because it featured a sound effect, the susurration of many whispered voices speaking. I found it fascinating because this is mostly how it sounds when I talk with spirits, only I'm not certain that the voices are audible. I have not tried speaking with them whilst another human is in the room intentionally listening, but I have experimented with making a digital recording while I was talking to them, curious if any EVPs would show up in the recording. Upon playback, however, my voice was the only audible sound captured.
