If we live in a materialistic universe where magic isn't real, then what happens during vodou cermonies where they kill a chicken and invoke spirits to take over?

Ppl can laugh all they want but the supernatural world is real, since you know how manifestation works, I have seen ppl use it to practically control others or even make them forget things
