About that time (1965), near Liverpool there used to be a visiting pastor called "Uncle Stan" (real name Stan Ford) who gave services on the beach, and organised games for the kids during the Summer holidays.
After a few years, however, he got lured away by the glitz and money on American talk radio.

Used to hear that on the radio often (some conservative stations here in Oklahoma) in the late 60’s and 70’s. I remember in Junior high that he was popular in my class. Some of the boy would imitate his voice.
