On this tiny man made island set between the canals of Xochimilco is some real nightmare fuel.
Over 50 years ago the caretaker here found a drowned little girl. A few days later a doll washed up and he believed it to belong to the drowned girl and he hung it in a tree to honor her.
As time went on he believed he was being haunted and hung doll after doll all over the island. He believed each doll was possessed by a little girl and he was trying to appease their spirits.
Paranoid obsessive compulsive behavior but the horror movie perfect ending to the story is the caretaker was eventually found drowned and washed up exactly where he found the little girl.
@robingoodfellow It really does. I'm going to say it's a high probability that he intentionally drowned himself. How he washed ashore in that very same spot is the mind boggling part.
