It was like a flame in the sky and then it disappeared or went out. I don’t know what it was but it seemed really low down. And a few minutes later we saw a drone coming from the east and passing south of us. I had to come inside, looking up made the back of my neck hurt when I did it.

Briefly? Could have been an aircraft landing lights? They are both powerful and directional, and if the plane was turning you would only see them briefly. There are a slew of other lights, lights that could have been blocked by the airplane itself and are dim compared to the straight on beam of the landing lights.

Most planes also have an anti- collision light which is a rotating light, and from a distance the blending of it and the landing lights could come across as pulsing, or flame like.

Anything fast and burning, like afterburners on a jet engine would be stream like, resembling the business end of a plumber’s torch.
