Yes, there's a but! [I Am Amazed At the Universe]

I think we need to look down a bit and see our problems on Earth 🌎 with a little more realism,use the money we waste on missions to the stars on developing a robot for going and cleaning the oceans of all the human detritus strewn about that's killing species we've not even catalogued yet!

We should stop felling timber too and return huge areas where we have cleared trees back to forest and allow Mother Nature to assist us in cleaning the carbon pollution from the air. If we can learn anything good from the pandemic it's that we need to change, otherwise we may be seen as a scourge upon the Earth 🌎 ourselves and she'll want to wipe us out.

Thanks to many people below who inspired me to write with their understanding of our real needs!

Much of the development of space technology.. like AI and remote robotic rovers that operate in extreme conditions will end up developing the technology that will allow us to build similar rovers with AI able to work in the ocean depths to clean up all the detritus strewn about in there..

The best way to encourage people to plant trees is to make those trees a valuable asset.. If wood is used more to replace plastics then more people will plant timber plantations to supply that demand..

@Shonach12 Human beings are not all idealistic and self sacrificing and it is a waste of time to expect or hope that anything major is going to be done through charity or self sacrifice.. But dangle a few $$$ in front of people and the incentive of reward will motivate them to pursue an objective that will benefit the world.. The trick is to find a way to create an positive carrot incentive to get people doing what you want them to do..

Profit focused -corporations are very efficient organizations when they are out to achieve an objective.. finding a way to make your objective their objective is a win win situation for all.
