Half-Moon Man

by: Rob Paquin

Walking down the darkened road
A red light blinking in the sky
A plane to carry people home
The half-moon just slipping by

And there above that frozen moon
Stars shine on; Resilient
The scent of pines upon the breeze
I can feel fulfillment

Acceptance of the things that vie
Begging my attentions
Some of worth and some that die
A few of pure deceptions

But to the heart that lies inside
All things are simply frozen
Like that moon inside my sky
Replaced soon by a sun so golden

To stretch and no longer wonder why
I rest my head and close my eyes
A soul so still caged deep inside
Too weary to even try.
