@ArishMell The camera was attached to an arm that swung down on to the lunar surface, and Aldrin worked the camera while Armstrong stepped down.

@whowasthatmaskedman Yes, I've noticed that rather curious trait too. It does seem only Americans who try to deny spectacular American successes like manned landings on the Moon!
