In Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius, Jorge Luis Borges described a language with no nouns. The Moon would be described as “moonate” or “moondling” since only the Moon can “moondle.”
@LeopoldBloom Me too. I think I read “The Library of Babel” first in high school, and it was a revelation. Also, “The Garden of Forking Paths” and “Uqbar, Orbis Tertius.” Borges said why write a novel when you can convey the same feeling in a short story? He’s a true genius.
@Fukfacewillie Also "Funes, the Memorious," "The Form of the Sword," and "Death and the Compass." I have a DVD with two movie versions of the last one.
