Agreed we have cut avterrible swath through the original beauty of our natural world. The hope comes in the strong push toward green technology. The great strides that have been made in renewable energy which make it profitable for even companies like Shell and Exxon-Mobile investing heavily in making the transition.
Lufthansa now fuels its planes 50% with biofuel from algae. I believe United airlines (though putting a bad show in customer relations) is also fueling much of its fleet with biofuel. There is hope that our destructive surge of industrialization may soon be chalked up to growing pains.
