Is the classic saucer shaped alien space ship depicted in pop culture actually a flyable shape given enough energy boost to move in the air?

It has already been manufactured by earthlings. There is a patent for creating a vacuum like vortex around the flying object too, to enable it to move across spaces without gravitational or air hindrance
