Why do some people assume that if there was life on other planets we would have been invaded by now? [I Believe In Life On Other Planets]

Life could mean anything from a few bacteria to a civilization so much more advanced than ours that we have literally nothing they could ever want, and anything in-between. I picture a civilization at about the same level as ours but they look like mantises. A bunch of mantises saying theirs is the only planet with life on it because if there was life on another (such as this one) they would have been invaded by now. Think about it.

People think that because people are foolish. The one thing that does seem to escape many is the concept of time and distance. If our current spacecraft were to head to the nearest planet that could conceivably contain life, it would take roughly 73,000 years. There's a probe that's been used that could do it in about 17,000 years. It's 25 TRILLION miles away. Even traveling at the speed of light, which is impossible, it would take four or five years. My personal take is that "we" believe in aliens because we're an arrogant and fearful species. Belief is what drives our train. No different than human sacrifice to the Sun Gods which really wasn't that long ago. It's what we do. Logically, given what we know about the universe, is that life does exist. Potentially a never ending loop of life. But it's SO far away that it has no bearing on our life on earth.
