Have you ever dug for fossils?
I did once on a hillside at Lake Alcova in Wyo. I got a small bag of what was once these octopus like creatures from the Jurassic period. Hard to believe Wyoming was once an ocean.

I didn't actually have to dig, I've found fossilized shark teeth right on top of the ground in a wooded area, as well as in fill dirt purchased from a company that would've dug it out of a similar area (my part of the world was under the sea millions of years ago)
