I Love the Beach

Coming Home:
Too long have I been away from you,
From the constant beating of your heart,
And the taste of you on my lips.
Too long have I wandered with this yearning in my soul.
And this need crying out in my body,
Not even knowing what I was missing.

Too long since I walked your salty shores,
Smelled the primordial smell of creation,
Lain beside you and become one with your power,
And your everlasting rhythms of life.

Now that I have found my way back to you,
I realize what it was that I was missing in my life,
I need your healing, life-giving energy and your peace.

Nothing about you has changed, thank God,
You have waited for me without missing a wave,
A seagull or a sand dollar.

Dear Heartlander, I would find it hard not to get to the beach occasionally, now that we have moved inland I was raised in the Seattle area, near the coast and have always loved beaches, not too fond of
Mountains, but love the water and sand, I hope my poem didn't make you feel too sad about living inland,
I wrote it at a time when we moved to the beach, and I was so thrilled to be home!
