Wow! Very nice words of wisdom!

I really enjoyed reading this Darlingrose:) Although I haven't lived near a beach most of my life, I was born just minutes away from a beach. My parents took me there frequently my first few years of life. Since then, the few times I have gone back to visit the ocean, I have left with tears in my eyes not knowing when I will see it again... I enjoy it so much! However, I must say that your poem resonates with me because of another kind of 'coming home' it alludes to... another kind of love:)

Dear Heartlander, I would find it hard not to get to the beach occasionally, now that we have moved inland I was raised in the Seattle area, near the coast and have always loved beaches, not too fond of
Mountains, but love the water and sand, I hope my poem didn't make you feel too sad about living inland,
I wrote it at a time when we moved to the beach, and I was so thrilled to be home!

Rose, thanks for the reminder. Yes, Gulf Shores and Dolphin Island are the beginning of the beautiful clear Gulf waters.

My favorite aunt lived in Mobile and as a kid I was an occasional visitor. I grew up closer to the more brackish waters of Louisiana and Mississippi and remember being stunned by the clarity as we got distance from the outflow of the Mississippi.

Rose ... I grew up within a stone throw of the Gulf and have ever since felt the pull. Like a stretched rubber band. Stretched so far and for so long and the fear of it snapping :)

I did spend a few days on South Padre last year, but just a very few days.

I love Seattle and Vancouver and the closeness of the mountains and the sea.

Dear Silentspector, so glad to hear from you, this site looks pretty good so far, what do you think?
Nothing new in the health dept. no one can seem to find the cause of the breathing problems, have ruled out the major causes.

Dear oldergentleman, thank you for your compliment, you must also love the beach! As it resonates with you! We were lucky enough to spend about 15 years on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, and loved it.

Dear Heartlander,
Yes, the gulf must be calling you, I know the feeling, most people don't even know that Alabama has 22 miles of white sandy beach, and I have walked my share of it.
