A Chill in the Air

Walked outside this and felt the first little chill of fall. I checked my weather app to see it was 66°F. For most of you that doesn’t sound like much but for here it’s pretty big since it’s been high 70s or low 80s each morning. Hope y’all have a great weekend and your college football team wins today. Except if you root for Michigan. Hook ‘em Horns 🤘🏻

On a note of interest.... (to me at least)

UT fans wear their favorite burnt orange, proudly wave the “Hook 'em” hand sign, and look for Bevo, the longhorn mascot. (He's a steer, not a bull because he would be much too dangerous if he weren't. Oh and can you imagine how tasty he would be on the grill?)

While UT's athletic teams have been known as the Longhorns since the early 1900s, fans might not know that the university's first live mascot was a scrappy tan and white dog named Pig Bellmont.

@Fungirlmmm wow you know some UT history. Pig was replaced in 1916 by BEVO when an alumni, Stephen Pinckney collected money from other alumni to by a Longhorn steer from a ranch in the Panhandle. The current one is BEVO XV. 🤘🏻

@KateATX Quite a bit... I studied all that stuff many years ago when I first met @JesseInTX . I have a huge Bevo,that is many years old, that I had to put high on a shelf because my beloved doxie fell in love with him and every time I turned my back on him he would use poor Bevo as his own personal love toy lol. I guess I can put him back next to the bed now because he passed away last month. He had mostly Clemson apparel, but he had some UT stuff for special game days... (a collar, bandana, and a jersey thqt matched mine.) Lol i still have my reappropriated tshirt I borrowed from "someone's" closet too. Haha I am all set in lots of shades of orange in my house. :)

@Fungirlmmm I’m sorry you lost your dog. I know that’s tough. We lost one back in February and it was devastating. Jesse is a great guy!

@KateATX Most definitely a wonderful one. I had my dog 17 years and for that I am grateful. I miss him very much though. I am sorry for your loss as well.

@KateATX Thank you for caring. It is something that you never really get over; you just sort of learn to exist beyond it.
