Once the day is over it’s essential to relax and be comfortable
While I'm often nude at home, I'm not compulsive about it the way most people are about always being clothed in their own home, other than briefly when bathing or changing. Why trade one unnatural compulsion for another? Nudity is our natural state after all and if there’s no need to get dressed again, neither my daughter or I will do so.
If I'm not going anywhere and it's warm enough in the house, I make that comfort choice, as does my daughter. Indeed, she is only comfortable at home if she is naked! Even here in the midst of the city of Rome we are most comfortable naked. Clothes after all, are an artifice of desiring to protect ourselves from the elements. Being in the warmth of your own home there’s no need of artifice!
I am sure Edoardo has mentioned this to his parents before because my daughter and I have been completely naked in their society and they haven’t chosen to say anything about it to us, and they have never exhibited any scorn or discomfort. When Edoardo’s sisters have been around they have never been visibly shocked by our nudity. Whether they thought we were being sexual is difficult to determine, especially because Chiara is only eleven years old. It’s never really come up in conversation with my fiancé so perhaps I might ask him.
Edoardo sees us at home naked and he gets baked himself! Yes, for a time he was finding it difficult not to get an erection but that has changed in the time we have been together. We have determined that the children will never be made to view their bodies as shameful in any way. The fact that people cannot look at a naked person without quickly becoming sexual is both sad and demonstrates how deeply scarred they are inside by their view of the human body. There are only two types after all, male and female!
When Chiara has walked in on us, just after we have had sex, we ignored that we were naked and that she could see signs of the exchange of fluids, and she has gotten used to seeing us. It is perfectly natural, and you could say a valuable and practical life lesson giving a visual to what she has learnt in human biology lessons.
