Why are people so offended by nudity and the human body?

Correction. HUMANS do not find nudity offensive…mostly just Americans and their censorship. We have become so conditioned to think that nudity is offensive bcuz the only time we are exposed to it is in Private and we are made to feel that it is dirty.

Breasts are not sexual until you sexualize them. - Jamie

I have always wondered about this. One explanation that has a lot to do with it is religion. It is largely religion that teaches us that the uncovered body is something shameful. I am amazed that people think that a god created our private parts and then decided they were "bad."

Europe has less of a problem with nudity than America. Although we have been showing breasts in America for decades, genitalia, until recently, were a no-no. They could flash across the screen for only a few seconds. More than that could get the movie an x-rating. It is becoming a bit more common though.

For Americans, it is violence that is unrestricted. Guns, explosions, bloody gore dripping from every corner of the room after a violent gang fight... Anything goes. We have no problem with it at all and movie ratings are rarely enforced.

It's largely a cultural thing. - Aaron.

Because they think they should be offended by nudity.

Nudity isn’t naturally offending, only it can be taught to be offending. If from a young age on people have been talking bad about nudity, you start believing so. That doesn’t make it true, but it does influence the way - Sanna.

an covered body is a form of respecting others ,
it's a way to teach kids , some things are to be respected,
an uncovered body is open to disease,
an uncovered body,
can lead to excitement,
at inappropriate times,
an uncovered body,
is a body shared with more than a loved one,
that takes something magical
out of healthy relationships,
I think we should, cover ourselves so the aliens don't laugh...
they may just see a hole they want to probe,
clothes are a form of protection

@Ingwe Mmmm in terms of disease, the most vulnerable holes are almost certainly the holes in your face. And it's fine to think that your body is best left covered to keep the sight of it 'special' or whatever, but using physical force to make other people do the same is really extreme.

@BlueVeinsPlease tell me more about the physical force part you mentioned.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Ingwe Public nudity laws. If someone goes around with their ass cheeks out, we call some people with guns to come over, stuff them in a car, and put 'em in a cage. We've normalized the use of physical force against people who go around naked in public.

@BlueVeins we should have our own rules when it comes to our behaviour but we should remember we are part of a society
we move in civil circles and it is good to have certain limits ,
otherwise it'll be chaos
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Ingwe A little bit of chaos never hurt anyone. I mean, we let people choose what they want to eat for breakfast in the mornings, or where they wanna live, or how they wanna spend their afternoons. Maybe choosing whether to wear clothes could become another pleasant chaos of daily life.
