I Like To Compare Spanking Experiences

Interesting to read about the various implements used in various countries.
While brush and belt seem to be “universal”, the slipper seems to be a typically British implement, while the paddle appears to be just as typically American.
The tawse nearly seems to be confined the Scotland and the Martinet to France.
Here in Denmark, the belt was always the preferred implement to fathers, while mothers mainly used a brush or – a wooden coathanger!
Actually, the coathanger seemed to be national implement of the nation for many years.
It was never used in my childhood home, but I know it was in many.
Anyone knows of any other implements specific to certain countries or regions?

I'm surprised to hear that Danish mothers often use a brush for spanking. I thought that was predominantly an American thing.

I would imagine birching was once common in Denmark. I suppose it has fallen out of fashion?

Spanking was banned by law in Denmark in 1997, although I'm sure many parents broke this law after it passed. But perhaps they wanted to make sure they didn't leave lasting marks on their children's bottoms which might get the parents into trouble, and just spanked with their hands. Just a thought.

@Badseed Birch was common until the 19th century, while brush or wooden coathanger was the preferred "weapon" for Danish mothers in the 20th century, while the belt was preferred by the fathers - mainly, probably, because they had it right at hand.
The effort not to leave marks has undoubtedly played a part after the ban.
