I Like To Compare Spanking Experiences

Interesting to read about the various implements used in various countries.
While brush and belt seem to be “universal”, the slipper seems to be a typically British implement, while the paddle appears to be just as typically American.
The tawse nearly seems to be confined the Scotland and the Martinet to France.
Here in Denmark, the belt was always the preferred implement to fathers, while mothers mainly used a brush or – a wooden coathanger!
Actually, the coathanger seemed to be national implement of the nation for many years.
It was never used in my childhood home, but I know it was in many.
Anyone knows of any other implements specific to certain countries or regions?

Peter, the belt is the most used implement in Romania too. My mother used it mostly on me. Other implements used are: switches, the horse of the washing-machine, rods, wooden rulers, wooden spoons and even electric cords, cloth lines or wet ropes. In the country side sometimes the whip and some domestic tools like stirring poles, the handle of a spade or a broomstick, stokers and other tools at hand. Not too often, but I heard about being whipped with stinging nettles on the legs.

As for your list, do not ignore the strap, the Russian knout, the razor, the birch, the carpet beater, the crop, and the Turkish scourge.

@Codrin: Many of those implements sound barbaric these days and in this part of the world, but of course, one should always remember that times as well as cultures change with time.
Used in the right way in a controlled manner and out of love, some of the implements would still be defensible.
The question is often not so much what you spank with, but how and why you spank - and how hard and how long etc.

@Codrin: Blimey! I think a slipper or paddle, plus a cane for really serious things, should be sufficient.

@PeterTheTherapist: I do not spank any more, and I never spanked my daughter for there was no need. People here still strongly believe in the benefits of CPs however - "Spanking comes from the Heaven," is a Romanian saying hardly to be precisely translated. I must add that there is not a Romanian word for "spanking". The closest and the most used word is "beating" because the common opinion is that a corporal punishment must be severe for being memorable and effective. Some smacks or a few lashes with the belt/whip would not reach their goal. In my childhood times and during my teen years we all boys knew what we would get if we stepped aside (ouch! 😫) for we discovered it the hard way.

@MartinII: Canes and paddles are not common here. My mother used a slipper now and then, but for serious misbehaviour it was the leather belt - a perpetual deterrent until I was able to own my own money.
