Ashlee.. i am sorry you feel people are giving you a hard time over this.. but you might see that people dont really think it's normal.. I found it exceptionally difficult when i read that your brothers do it too! Unless YOU have permission to beat them when they are bad..then it's simply abusive in that you are being unfairly treated because you are a woman and supposedly the weaker sex.. can't fight back.. its wrong for men to hit women.. they are physically stronger.. I would be truly sad for you if you, as a woman feel you are somehow inferior to men and more deserving of physical punishment than men and BY men.. I am sad especially that you may have been conditioned to think that :( It kinda is abuse.. you arent a kid anymore but it could constitute domestic violence.. especially if there is mental abuse too which has given you a very low self esteem as to think men should hit women.
