That was how my mom spanked us children... No other way. As I got older I hated the "Take off your panties now" part, but mom was adamant. In her view, a spanking could not be given any other way. And I have to say that today I quite agree with her.

Yes we were spanked that way quite often as well. I sure didn't like having to bare my bottom for a spanking back then; but yes did as told by parents !
Yes looking back now agree with them as I have mine do the same when naughty!

Bare bottom spanking was so common we didn't think anything of it. We weren't only spanked by our parents but also by friends' parents. Being a bit of a tomboy, I was most often in trouble with boys. I was frequently spanked bare bottom with them by their fathers.

@ladybird: No, it wasn't embarrassing because we were used to it. I think embarrassment is a taught reaction rather than innate and I was never taught to be embarrassed.
