I thought this week would start off relatively calm, but it’s been anything but, after finding out mom and dad are going to retire and shortly after the party, they are going to leave for Spain and then in Paris. I also asked if we wanted to buy the house or rent it, Jonathan and I told them we can buy it and they said they’ll be able to sell it to us below market value that way we can have equity which would help us with the loan. So dad set up a meeting with the bank and a real estate lawyer so I can get the house transferred to Jonathan and my name. Charles also said that he will be him and his wife will be taking some time off and surprisingly they’ve been talking with my parents and they’re going to join them in Spain and possibly Paris, Charles didn’t give a time when they would be back. So he wanted me to fill out some paperwork so I can be employed by the nightclub so I had to fill out employment papers contract, then go over to the bank with Charles to get my name added to the clubs account.
When I went to work Wednesday, I asked Naomi to meet with me in the office to discuss some changes in her schedule. I’ve been finding it difficult getting things done during the day and then working all night getting home around 4 am. So I talked with her about moving into a manager position to cover me when I’m not there. She has worked at the nightclub alongside her dad for many years so she knows quite a bit. It will take a little time to train her on the details, but I think she’ll pick up on it very fast. She seemed very excited into moving into a management role, she told me that she wasn’t very interested in advancing her position here at the club, but now that I have moved into management has been much more enjoyable and the work environment is very relaxing. So she said she’d be happy to take the position has co manager.
We talked well over two hours and I shared my thoughts on having the fire station police station and City Hall having a private party here at the club for their families. She liked the idea but she said her dad had tried to open up the rooms up the stairs, but it ended up costing him more money than it was worth. That’s why we no longer use it. I told her I had talked to him about that and he had said the same thing, but I think everything could be done on the main floor and we can have a band come in and play and thought it would be a good way for government officials to see what we do here at the nightclub. I also told her I’d been floating around an idea on having a raffle and have customers bid on the waitresses and then I want them to come in dressed and their best outfits and whoever wins can undressed them and then dance a private dance on the floor. Naomi said that she can talk with the girls and see if that’s something they would be interested in, but she thought it would be a great idea.
I called Charles up and told him about wanting to hire Naomi to be co-manager and he liked the idea, I also said that we would probably need to fill out employment papers for her also so he said he was gonna get the documentations together and meet me tomorrow With Naomi to fill out the paperwork and get her on payroll. Currently, Charles pays the girls cash so there is no employment records for them, he said he decided to do it that way because he had such a high turnover every time he would get the papers filled out turned in taxes set they would quit so it cost him quite a bit of money and time so he just eliminated that step and just started paying everyone cash. He said now that the waitresses and staff want to stick around and work that he may have everyone do that. The downside is state and federal taxes will come out of their checks so it makes paperwork a problem and instead of getting paid every Saturday night when I get off work, they will have to get paid every two weeks that way the paperwork can be submitted on their pay. Their tips will still stay the same, but I know that they have been spoiled getting cash every week. They will not like the new changes. I think at this time we really need to clean up things around the club as far as payroll, especially now that the club is getting much recognition.
When Naomi and I met with Charles, he said he had contacted an accountant that does payroll so he will be handling all the payroll for staff at the nightclub that way we don’t have to worry about the payroll and can focus on the nightclub. He also said that we both would be in charge of a nightclub while he and his wife are on vacation and that they may be gone for more than a month.
