Beat it out of me.

When i was young my mother would make me sit in a chair and she'd stand in front of me. She'd make me sit there for hours. She'd stand there and just wait for me to have a tic or outburst. When i did she'd hit me or slap me across the face. Some times she'd hit me so hard I'd get black eyes, nose bleeds and bruises.
Once she even knocked me out cold.

She was told by our doctor that i was faking and that my tourettes wasn't real. That i was doing it for attention. So she felt if she hit me enough i would stop.

hitting a child in the face is unacceptable. for any reason, at any age.
@SusanInFlorida You are absolutely right. It is dangerous, insulting, and counterproductive. Unfortunately it was often present in movies.
She should have never hit you regardless.

Holy shit .. thats horrible. I can't imagine having a relationship with someone who would do that.

@Pherick i don't anymore. I left home when i was 17. I never saw them until i had kids. My x wife felt the kids needed to know their grandparents. So I'd go over for holidays and birthdays. They treated my kids ok. They'd always give them those backhanded compliments like oh sweetheart you look nice but
why are you using your ear buds, why are you so hyper. It was alway uncomfortable. They never said anything nice to me. But since my wife left and i have them now, we decided not to go over their any more. Best decision we've made.

Sorry you had to experience that. Hope you have your tics managed now. My son has tics and also OCD.

Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
