I Had To Write The Same Sentence Over And Over As Punishment

It is the most sadistic punishment created. Especially when you have to switch between pen and pencil every other word. I hate parents who did this

GoodoldBob · 61-69, M
There is nothing sadistic about it. It's a very appropriate form of discipline.
@GoodoldBob it feels sadistic when I have to sit there and do it
GoodoldBob · 61-69, M
@CassiePatriot True, but it leaves no scars and does no permanent injury. It lets you know that you have done wrong and that you are being punished and it is something you would much rather not do again, so it makes a good deterrent.

The content of the sentence can add to the effect too.
@GoodoldBob I agree on that part. It's an effective punishment, but I just hate it so much
GoodoldBob · 61-69, M
@CassiePatriot In a way, most kids would prefer almost anything else because most forms of discipline are passive - no internet, corner time, spankings, etc - they are not required to do anything except wait for it to be over.

It's the fact that they are made to actively do something
What is your reasoning for asserting that kids being spanked are not active but instead are passive?

Even if they don't resist and let it happen, just doing that involves action big time and will power and ... Getting a spanking is a major cooperative and active event, however it goes down.
