I had to do that when I was in school. You would think after writing "I must be quiet" 100 times, I'd learn..lol

No. I wouldn't think so. I think it teaches nothing but resentment for the lazy way adults use to discipline kids. Does it really take so much longer to think of something more productive for the kids to do with their time. My favourite idea is to combine time with teaching.
100 math word problems will teach them that there are consequences for misbehaving and it will also give them practice doing something practical.
Writing anything over and over again teaches nothing. Well maybe it teaches how to be bored.
