Hasn't it been discussed enough in popular media that blowing up a high momentum object headed for Earth is not a good solution to the problem?

@SW-User I never understood that though. So what if it cracks into smaller pieces, just blow up the smaller pieces until the really small ones burn up in the atmosphere. 🙄
