Name that horror film?

I only remember one scene and its not very descriptive. Some person visits this familys home in the dead of winter, I dont remember why. he/she returns to their jeep to find the battery is dead. Apparently the monster in the film had something to do with it. he/she goes back inside to find that the kid is screaming and the parents are barring the door to keep the kid from escaping. This person manages to break the door open and finds the kid huddled on the floor with what appears to be giant insects crawling towards him. I think he manage to shoot one of the bugs and pulled the kid out of there
