@BohoBabe Not necessarily if the public opinion strongly tilts against Trump. Politicians cater to the biggest voter base, following the pandemic and the first Trump term the average voter only wanted normalcy, and restoring the pre-2016 status quo, hence you had Biden, possibly the closest continuation of Obama's presidency from a PR standpoint and with a clear objective of trying to repair the Rep-Dem divide.
There's no longer the conditions of that, and I suppose the next Democrat primary winner will necessarily be someone who promises to fight fire with fire. It's ultimately also why the Harris campaign failed the moment she tried to cater to old school republicans.

@Elessar Sure, but look what happened with Biden. He won, but because it took too long for his policies to go into effect, most Americans didn't really feel a difference. That is one of the reasons Trump got reelected.
If America has real elections going forward, the next president will be a Democrat, no question. But if there isn't a massive change really quickly, one that the average American can feel, then the president after that will be another Republican. And unfortunately, Gavin Newsom is economically conservative. He'd keep the status quo.

@BohoBabe Because Biden ran on a campaign of restoring pre-2016 normalcy. Whether we like it or not that was the public wanted at the time. Considering the outcome or the very last election, I'm not sure even in 2024 a more "aggressive" candidate could've won.
Now that Trump's f*cking pretty much everyone minus the billionaires, you could see some actual push for change.
