The judge can still do it.
Some people hate the idea of Trump getting a get out of Jail free card. The judge could put the sentence on hold, until trump is out of office. He could up hold the convictions, without sentencing him to prison. The sentence could be appealed, without the convictions overturned.
There still could be some payback.
