I really don't want recreational totally legal here cuz it's going to drive down the prices medical is good enough but then again thank God Georgia has not legalized anything. We don't want big pharma taking over everything. Keep the industry for the mom and pop flowing

@KingofBones1 Which is exactly what happened in legal states, corporate investments took over.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@NativePortlander1970 yes and in California they had a big problem with it but fortunately for them some of the farmers in the Humboldt triangle pushed back although it had measured success. That is the problem it is not about legalization it is about corporate greed taking over everything and shutting people out
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@NativePortlander1970 what they need to do is split the legalization 50/50 only let corporations handle a certain percentage of the legal distribution and then make it legal for Mom and Pop to have their hand in things. Or better yet band corporations all together and let it be a totally Private industry
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@KingofBones1 Big money never allows it
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@NativePortlander1970 of course not but the nice thing is Big money's production is not as pure or nonsynthetic as private stock thank God for that
DogMan · 61-69, M
@KingofBones1 Which is worse? Corporations taking over? Or Government taking over?
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@DogMan both are going to f*** the individual royally. How about neither
DogMan · 61-69, M
@KingofBones1 The thing is, only the government can force us to do what they want us
to do. Corporations have to compete.
to do. Corporations have to compete.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@DogMan yes but the problem is both can operate on a mass scale therefore afford to price far lower and still make millions. Private industry cannot afford to do the same thing nor can they compete in production. Therein lies the problem. When prices go to low, it is not even worth the struggle for the private farmer to compete
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@DogMan the only minor saving Grace will be quality not quantity. But once corporations master that particular field. Mom and pop are done for
DogMan · 61-69, M
@KingofBones1 I hear ya, I own a small construction company, luckily I am able
to compete with the big boys. But I know that corporations CAN take down certain
businesses. And I'm sure they could do that to small growers. We have been involved
with the building of many grow houses in southern Nevada. So far they are owned by
individuals, and the banks have not been too kind to them. I don't know if that has
changed yet, but I believe that is what is keeping the big corporations at bay, for now!

@KingofBones1 That is why I was so pissed off when the mom and pop stores were shut
down during Covid, and forced us all into Walmart and Home Depot. I never understood
that decision.

@KingofBones1 Ever since california went med legal growers and breeders have competed to create the "perfect strain" of more yield and higher percentages of thc. However, in their quests to acheive their perfections, actual quality has gone way down, they like to claim that today's weed isn't like our grandfather's pot, that it's more potent, and I call horseshit. I cut my teeth on Pacific NW hydroponics in the early 1990's when I was in my early 20's, back then we still had the classic landrace strains, like Maui Wowie, Alaskan Thunderfuck, White Widow, Panama Red, Thai Stick, etc., stuff that with only two or three hits off a joint, hand pipe, or bong, could couch lock you for hours on end. When I was in NorCal 11 years ago I got on a trimming crew at a Prop215 coop, the guy was bragging his strains were the best in the area, it would take nearly 10 hits to maybe feel something that wouldn't even last 45 minutes.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@DogMan so far it is but the push or total legalization will not benefit the small grower. Because when you flood the market with a product it destroys the value that's basic economics 101 as I'm sure you know. I am glad your business has been able to keep up. And so far being on the borderline mine is doing fairly well but once they erase that border I'm going to have to move primarily north of mine if you catch my drift. Just like prohibition prohibition was good for the liquor cartels and it is what made them rich. When you flood a market just like the end of the Volstead act did now it takes you years and years of owning a liquor store to make any money worthwhile

@NativePortlander1970 exactly my point my friend the good news for some people in my area I am strictly old school all organic, and old school strains no pesticides used or additives. White widow, old school Northern lights, blue dream, OG Tahoe, zar, gorilla glue number 4 8 and 12, etc so my content is as potent is today's can be I go for quality not quantity
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@KingofBones1 Exactly, corporate farming has flooded legal state's grow ops, HUGE buildings that operate 24/7 hydroponically, pushing out the smaller growers. One Friend in NorCal says there's a 100,000 sq ft warehouse that's about two miles from him.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@NativePortlander1970 that part is exactly what I'm talking about. And that is why Humboldt county put upsuch a fight like they did because they knew this was coming
DogMan · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 Yeah, I prefer the weed we used back in the 70's. I DO NOT like
the current high THC strains. I go with the 14% which is about the lowest content they have,
and still, I only take one toke, and I'm good to go, any more than that I would also be a
couch potato. I like to take a toke before I go to the gym, or before I walk the dogs.
Or when doing mundane tasks like yard work. I got into art ( painting ) a few years ago.
I like to take a toke when I paint also. I did a 75ft mural at an animal farm, over a couple
month period, had fun with it. I think I have some pictures of it, I'll look.

@KingofBones1 Good to hear that. Even though I cannot imbibe as I'm currently in a draconian prohibition state, I know that a good quality indica would greatly improve my breathing, and get me off assisted oxygen, due to its brachial dilation properties.
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@DogMan I'd like to see them
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@NativePortlander1970 and you are exactly the kind of person that I am trying to fill the niche to help along with my fellow veterans who suffer, and the ones who truly need what I can provide
DogMan · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970
I will have to find the others. One one these is in my yard, I mean the dogs yard.
The top one is one single 4' x 8' panel at the farm.

@KingofBones1 As Dennis Peron once told me, All Cannabis use is medicinal, as it keeps us in stasis, he also hated the growing trend of cbd only, he told me that industrial hemo, from which it's derived from, will never contain the thc values to activate it, I only talked with him online one time, introduced by Steve Kubby's widow, who I knew years before she got together with Steve. As you know, Kubby and Peron were the coauthors of California's Prop215, Kubby and I talked online a few times, he was pretty cool.

@DogMan Those are way too cool :)
