Vote Save America

With the midterm elections coming up, I wanted to let everyone know about "Vote Save America." This is a group that matches you up with a close election, and connects you with a phone system where you call voters in that area to tell them about the Democratic candidate, and make sure they know how to register to vote or can access early voting or vote by mail. This can make a difference in close races.

The last election demonstrated that every vote counts. If you want to do more to help elect Democrats, this is a great way to get involved.

Nope.

Former progressive voter here, there is NO WAY I am voting for the Democrats.

And I live in a battleground state! 😘😉

@SumKindaMunster That's what's great about our system, everyone gets to vote their conscience. Many of the groups that Vote Save America partners with aren't partisan, by the way. The last one I volunteered with was VoteRiders, where I mailed flyers to people explaining how to register to vote. I would hope that you support making it easier for anyone who is qualified to vote to do so.

I don't have a problem with conservative policies being put in place if that's what the voters decide. The problem we have now is voter suppression and gerrymandering, which allows a well-organized minority to have disproportionate control of the process. That should bother you even if you're benefitting from it at the moment.

Yeah and ballot harvesting and voter fraud.

You realize both sides do this correct? Do you understand why they put so much effort into gerrymandering? I mean, it is the number one thing the opposing party does the moment they get into power.
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@SumKindaMunster Both sides engage in gerrymandering when they're able to do so. That doesn't make it right. I would support outlawing partisan gerrymanders even if that meant Democrats might lose seats in some states.

Ballot harvesting and voter fraud are so insignificant as to not be issues even worth addressing. They're right-wing conspiracy theories. Although interestingly, whenever anyone has been charged with either of those, most of the time it's a Republican. These are only being used by Republican legislatures as excuses for voter suppression. I'm also in favor of making it easier for people to vote, even if that means Democrats lose a few elections because it was easier for conservative old people to vote in them.

@Lila15 Uh huh. As usual, a partisan screed and propaganda instead of a relevant reply. Anything else.?
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@SumKindaMunster I guess you’re not a partisan? Do you have a substantive response, or just ad hominem?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Lila15 I'm not, no.

Do you have a substantive response, or just ad hominem

I could ask you the same.
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@SumKindaMunster You're the one who attacked me first by accusing me of being a "partisan" and writing "propaganda." I guess you take any criticism of Republicans as a personal attack.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Lila15 This comment disingenuously pretends this is the first time we've interacted and there isn't a history here...

In case it isn't obvious, I'm not taking you seriously.

You're idea of a rebuttal is to invoke a "purity test" in that you randomly select another event that holds meaning in your mind, demand the person express their opinion on said event, and if that opinion deviates in any way from your already held opinion, you dismiss the person and their opinions out of hand.

I'm not wasting my time responding to you genuinely or seriously when you can't be bothered to give me the same courtesy.
Lila15 · 22-25, F
@SumKindaMunster Reread your first comment and my response to it, then tell me I did any of the things you're accusing me of.

Your problem is that you're having a lively debate with a liberal who only exists in your own imagination. Am I supposed to take you more seriously because you claim to have been a "progressive?" Do you take people like David Brock more seriously than other liberals because he used to be a conservative?

Oh, no, I did it again; I brought in an example of something that wasn't in the original post. We're only allowed to discuss liberals who became conservatives, not conservatives who became liberals.

Reread your first comment and my response to it, then tell me I did any of the things you're accusing me of.

No, you go back and reread my comments to you. It's clear you don't get it, because you keep doubling down on the same behavior and responses.

We're not debating at all. I've long stopped taking you seriously and caring about your point or responding to it relevantly.

The fact that you don't get that says a lot about you.
