tommorrow is 25 years

9/11 I was a toddler so I don't remember that day. My parents were in college and my mom was pregnant with my twin siblings who are 2 years younger than me. Mom says she remembers me and her where home and my dad and the couple they shared an apartment with had already left for school that day. Our neighbor came running in and told mom to turn on the tv and she watched as it unfold. tommorrow since I act dont teach on fridays my gifted classes i have a few things I do on fridays mostly meetings and planning and occasionally i sub in a class that needs covered. tommorrow though I been requested to make a presentation about 9/11 3 different ones really for students in grades 3rd through 12th in our school. They vary depending on how old the group im doing it for.

I was in NYC. I'd flown in for a big meeting starting on the 11th.

A colleague said there had been a terrible accident and a plane had hit a tower downtown. We went round to the window we could see the smoke etc. Then we saw the second plane hit. I realised then it was an attack.

Awful time trying to phone my home to leave a message. A mate was painting a room he answered the phone. My wife was working in school and only heard as school ended, about an hour after the attack started. Her friend remembers her just going white and saying I was in NYC.

I remember the taste of dust more than anything. Taste of death.

@OldBrit were in ga but my dad knew one person effected by 9/11 directly. A classmate of his from hs. He went to a public school unlike my mom and us who all went to private church school. His classmate's brother in law was killed at the pentagon. I'm not sure if he was on the plane or in the pentagon though.

My boyfriend teaches freshmen and junior classes in high school. He said a lot of the students barely know about 9/11 so he plans to talk to his kids about it today also.

@lissah Funny how now it is taught in schools, but around here on the day it happened schools shut down access to the news and kept the children in as much ignorance as possible because of the high chance they would have family or friends of family at the Trade Center and they wanted to protect the kids until they could get to their families at home.

@lissah we start teaching the kids at our school in 3rd grade about it but I started teaching my kids from a young age. age appropriate of course. i start with how one morning in september a group of evil men flew planes into buildings and killed alot of ppl. My dad had a classmate from hs whose bro in law was killed at the pentagon.

9/11/2001 and January 6th 2020 strike me as very similar. Sneak, cowardly attacks against America and in neither case were the perpetrators ever held property responsible for their actions.
