China is second only to the USA in world power; aims to be Number One... and I am afraid is on course to succeed.

Perhaps not for a few years, even decades, yet; but China has a ruthless single-party system run by very skilled people, and unlike the USA can plan years ahead.

The People's Rebublic of China also has a very large and expanding military arm, but though she not be afraid to fight, would prefer to take over in non-violent, non-destructive ways. As she is doing.

The Age of the Empire is not dead; but very different from in the past.

Trumpism is just the culmination of Late Stage Capitalism in America. MAGA is dead, but the Republicans are going to continue being fascist. We also have Tankies taking over the DSA, so I don't have much hope for America going forward.

@BohoBabe Yes. Trump and the Fascist backing propping him up are common symptoms of an empire in collapse. It started with overspending to maintain control, which leads to debasing the currency and its all downhill from there. The question being how far will it fall even it reaches rock bottom. The British Empire had a very soft landing..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman The British Empire was an interesting case because, despite being on the winning side of WWII, the war was so costly that the empire wasn't able to hold on to its overseas territories anymore. So even if America eventually beats Iran, we might end up like the UK, unable to maintain power on a global scale anymore. Though considering Trump lost to Iran over 30 times, I don't think America suddenly going to win a war.
