Why does it seem like the Democrats favor the Ayatollah?

I understand why they want Trump to fail, they hate him.

But why do Democrats think Iran is great the way it is? I have not heard them say one thing about
the 10s of thousands of protestors that have been killed.

the ayatollah is dead but now we are legitimizing war crimes with the killing of 160 children. I remember something being said recently about not following illegal orders.
