What is it like being Muslim in trumps America?

I can imagine being middle eastern, South Asian, or Islamic in this political climate probably feels a bit worrying. I have been mistaken for being from the Middle East before ( I got some side eye glances) though I am European white and Romani gypsies are originally from India based on genetic and linguistic findings. Romani went from India through Asia and some parts of North Africa to the European lands and migrated to the Americas too. We are truly a global people. Anyway I have a mental health case manager who is Muslim and from South Asia and she is very kind but it was mentioned that depending on the flight situations in the Middle East I think from Boston to Dubai and then Bangladesh to visit her husbands family when she will be spending three weeks out from work. And it came up through casual conversation that she was fasting. I asked her because her name Maha Begum is traditionally a Muslim name if it was Ramadan. She seemed a little surprised I knew that. She said yes I grew up in the religion. I asked Islam? She said yes. I said oh ok. And left it at that. I found out she came to the United States when she was little which I was merely curious about because she has a slight accent. She has a three year old daughter born here and she is my age. It was never mentioned before. Of course the hijab on her head and loose fitting pants and sweater with sneakers and a long coat might have indicated her as a somewhat religious woman. Which is fine although what does she do on Fridays, that’s the Islamic holy day and I know for sure because I have met her working on a Friday before when she does home.visits. Maybe she makes up for it when she goes home. A mental health case manager with a bachelors degree in criminal justice and minor in social work. That’s surprising she has a criminal justice bachelors. I thought perhaps a bachelors and maybe even a masters in psychology or social work. She has been with the department of mental health for two years and has been in the field for about nine years. She mentioned different services for me like the RCC and we are waiting on adult clinical community services to open up and take my case. Anyway my point is it is not a great time to be an immigrant in this country right now and I wonder how she feels day to day. That would be too personal to ask. So my point is I don’t understand the fear around individual Muslims. Sure I get the concerns about political Islamism and would I want to live in a religiously enforced country that is a theocracy? Nope… but Maha has not said or done anything wrong and. She knows what I am. The point is everyone is an individual and she said. That the first thing to be better is. I have to be open to different things ( services) and to be optimistic to take in gods blessings. Her father said that the philosopher he is. My dad thought asking her if she was born here was a little personal but she took no offense. She offered to take me to RCC groups which are like recreational groups and stay with me there to check them out. She said humorously she’d be getting paid to do that. I said not a bad gig Maha. It’s best to be exposed to individual people to be educated and broad minded instead of just relying on the news and stereotypes of others.

@MsSwan Ditto and don't name people, but I have a feeling this is a troll account.
