Why are Trans people able to buy guns?

Rhode Island ice rink shooting suspect's gender identity was source of past family conflict: docs
Robert ( Roberta ) Dorgan is accused of opening fire during youth hockey game in what police called a 'family dispute'

Gender Dysphoria is a mental problem. I thought those with mental problems could not buy guns.

2 weeks ago in Canada another Trans person killed 9 people. It seems that .1% of people are committing
50% of mass shootings.

Why isn't anyone talking about this phenomenon?

Gender Dysphoria is no longer categorized as a mental illness, so unless they have a labeled mental illness, it doesn't apply. Plus in many states, whether you have a mental illness or not isn't even looked at.

Edit: And yes, many people are already mentioning this. They have been since before this last one.

@Magicianzini Here are the facts, GD is classified as a DSM-5 mental disorder

Overview of the DSM-5
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), published by the American Psychiatric Association in 2013, is the primary reference for diagnosing mental health conditions in the United States. It provides detailed descriptions of mental disorders, including their signs, symptoms, and diagnostic criteria, helping clinicians differentiate between conditions with overlapping features. The DSM-5 is widely used in clinical, research, and educational settings to ensure consistency in diagnosis and treatment.

@DogMan You listed only what the DSM is. GD was removed from the list several years ago. It is no longer considered a mental illness. You don't remember that? It did hit the news and was all over online. Homosexuality also used to be considered a mental illness. That was removed quite some time prior.

@Magicianzini GD is still considered a DSM-5 mental disorder.
