If Trump now installs the rightful winner of the Venezuelan election (i.e. Maria Corina Machado), then MAYBE the capture of Maduro is justified.
But he won't because she got the Nobel Peace Prize and he didn't; so instead, he's continuing the regime, with a puppet president (Delcy Rodríguez) who has been told to stand aside and allow the US to steal Venezuela's oil.
Her continued oppression of the Venezuelan people, and the continued (modest) flow of drugs into the US will not be Trump's problem.

@G7J2O The only way this works is for it to go back to the way it was when Venezuela was prosperous.
That was when REAL oil men were there that knew what they were doing. When that happens the people will
reap the rewards.
Trump isn't going to TAKE their oil. He is smart enough to know that the only way this is successful is for the
oil production to get back to the levels it once had.
Trump will allow Oil to be sold to China in much greater quantities and Venezuela will prosper.
Hopefully they will not rely only on oil as they have, they need to also start some type of manufacturing to fall back on.

Following Maduro's capture on January 3, 2026, the Venezuelan Supreme Court and National Assembly swore in Vice President Delcy Rodríguez as the country's acting president. While she initially denounced Maduro's removal as a "kidnapping," she has since signaled a willingness to collaborate with the U.S. on a "cooperation agenda.
Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado and Edmundo González (widely considered the legitimate winner of the 2024 election) remain influential figures, though President Trump has expressed skepticism about their ability to lead the country at this time.

@pdockal yup. So the regime will continue, the repression will continue, and nothing will change for ordinary Venezuelans. What WILL change is colossal oil revenues for Trump’s corrupt cronies.
Trump lies about Machado purely because she won the NPP.
I have to say that my money is not on Trump this year either…

@pdockal yes. Another election would be ideal, so why not? The Venezuelan people will decide whether she should run the country.
By the way it’s worth pointing out that Maduro was in power, and a dictator, during Trump’s first term as well. They had oil then. Why take him now? I bet Epstein knows why…
