What is going on in Sweden?

I have always thought that Sweden was the bastion of Love and diversity. Heavy gun control, free health care, etc...

How did things go wrong?

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson admitted that his government has lost control over a burgeoning wave of violence sweeping the country, amid escalating public concern.

The acknowledgment came during an emergency meeting where Kristersson announced the acceleration of new legislation targeting juvenile involvement in criminal activities.

The beginning of 2025 has seen bombings carried out at an average of one per day, leading to 27 bombings by January 27 – including several in residential communities, the Nordic Times reported.

“Sweden is in the midst of a new wave of violence; it’s primarily the bombings that are increasing, with almost one occurring every day,” Kristersson told reporters on Thursday.

Some say the surging crime problem is due to immigrants, but they have no proof because Sweden does not list
ethnicity in crime statistics. But this might be changing, because how do you fix a problem if you don't know who
is committing crimes?

The subject of immigration is an increasingly charged one, yet much of the discussion is founded on guesswork. To the ire of some, and the agreement of others, Sweden does not collect statistical data on the ethnic background of criminals. The Local's Sweden in Focus series looks at why that is the case, and whether it's likely to change soon.

@DogMan can you think of any logical reason to not include that ?

@AthrillatheHunt The only reason is so that no one gets called a racist, or islamophobe.

It's kind of like bringing up black on black crime. It's a horrible thing that can't be talked about.

From what I have read, they stopped the ethnic background data around 2001.

@DogMan I get that. focus on the 1% killed by cops , not the 90+% killed by their own . Complain about a paper cut while you have a bullet hole in your chest . Form a group to complain about the paper cut. Stigmatize anyone who points out the gunshot wound .
