Remember MG? How about Volvo?:😷

The biggest factor behind Jaguar’s collapse wasn’t the 2024 rebrand campaign, it was their strategic bet on going all-electric, they pulled almost their entire existing lineup well before any new EV models were ready leaving dealerships with nothing to sell. The product gap is what drove sales to plummet. The campaign may have confused people, but the real issue was there simply weren’t any cars available because Jaguar was banking on future EVs that hadn’t arrived yet

You're still upset about that advert . .
JLR took the decision to run down almost the entire inventory before launching its new EV line. The main reason given for doing this was disruption to the export market occasioned by Trump's tariffs.

@SunshineGirl Oh please the tariff deals were just completed with the UK and the EU in the last few weeks, that had nothing to do with it.

@SumKindaMunster The economic damage has been caused by the climate of uncertainty created by Trump's ad hoc announcements. Hence the stockmarket losing more than 10% of its values in the week following "Liberation Day". JLR, which is quite heavily exposed to the US export market, prepared accordingly.

Wow. Amazing results. Someone needs to write a book.

@DogMan Indeed.
My speculation is that the C Suite at Jaguar thought it was a good idea to go in this direction as they were hoping for some sort of brand loyalty from the people they are signalling to with this ad campaign.
Something along the lines of the cybertruck, which also puts off a lot of people, but still has some loyal customers.

@SumKindaMunster I heard they also got rid of the flying cat, I always thought that was iconic.
