@MasterLee True, She was trampled by the crowd. Plus a few died of heart attacks, one died of his injuries two days after the fact and two ended up killing themselves shortly after the attacks on them at the capitol. But ya, just the one.

Storming the Capitol is a direct assault on democracy itself. It’s an attempt to interfere with how our government functions. Street riots, while still destructive and wrong stem from deep frustration over systemic issues, not an attempt to overthrow our actual govt. with force.

@nonsensiclesnail What critical thinking have you got to lay on us? The ICE operations are part of things Trump campaigned on. They were being legally carried out and are being interefered with by rioters and CA officials are furthering that interference. Its pretty cut and dried.

@pdockal Well we CERTAINLY know what's going on. The protests are only taking place within a small area of a few blocks, but the way it's being reported by Fox you'd think the city was burning to the ground.

It's just Portland all over again. A mountain out of a molehill. But the protests are highlighting a very REAL issue.

And YES, Portland was perfectly ok! Right-wing media outlets amplified the most extreme events, framing the entire protest movement as violent and chaotic, which distorted the broader narrative of what was happening.

Many Portlanders, including those involved in the protests, were furious at this exaggerated and misleading reporting. We all know that right-wing media focused too much on isolated incidents rather than the majority of peaceful demonstrations.

Also, how would you feel if you were a lawmaker fleeing a mob screaming for your execution, hiding under desks while they smeared feces and waved Confederate flags in the Capitol?

You probably think Portland, where people peacefully protested systemic injustice, was FAR worse than what happened on January 6th, where a mob tried to overthrow democracy, sh*tted on the floors, and threatened lawmakers. Totally the same. You probably think Portland no longer exists.

Most news agencies show the same footage multiple times during the anchor talking about it
