Not surprised. The past few decades republican voters are more emotion based. When the issues are on the table, many of those folks align more with the Democrat platform. They vote GOP over one issue, because of fear over the democrat candidate, because their clergy tells them, or peer pressure.

@22Michelle Agreed, but it's true clutching at straws. He may not have got the "majority" of the vote, but he still got more than Harris. And he didn't win 307 votes he won 312.

@Mesthartiya It's not "clutching at straws". It's reporting the facts. We have thecsame ussue here in the UK where the winners og a General Election will claim a mandate because they won a majority of seats in Parliament, and yet have not won a majority of votes cast, let alone a majority of the electorate. We know Trump won, but it was, as it often is, really due to the vagaries of the electoral college. Again, here in the UK we have a FPTP system where Parties have won a sizeable majority on a third of votes cast. What it tells you is that Trump, like pretty much all politicians, lies about how popular he is and that both electoral systems are centuries out of date and are not democratic. Sadly, in both countries the major parties are more interested in how to game the system rather than reforming it.
