My Dad fought in British army,as tank crew.Killing Nazis in about 7 countries from N.Africa,Italy, then liberating W,Europe.
If youve heard of the battle of Villers-Bocage,he missed it by about 4 days being rotated out of the line for a week or so to supply duties.

@wonkywinky My father was in the Australian Army, and served in North Africa, the Middle East, and also the U.K. - he experienced some of the "Blitz" in London, and was also just a few miles outside of Coventry on the night of the infamous Luftwaffe attack on that city.Later in North Africa,he was seriously wounded in the fighting near El Alamein in mid-1942.

If I was in your presence good sir, I would shake your hand in the honor of your father. Many who fought in World War II gave up a lot of what they had. And when they came home, people cheered for them. But the Horrors that those men had faced, were those of nobody had ever faced before. I would Shake Your Hand in honor of a man who fought so hard for this country.

@NiteRaven93 Thankfully, my father's service was not too bad.

@flipper1966 still. I would still shake the hand of your father if he was still alive, if he was alive I would go up to him and shake his hand. Anyone who fought in that war, deserves that respect

A couple of my uncles served there, too. My father served in the Korean conflict.
