So, funny thing about words
They have actual meanings that, while over generations some can be changed to become slang, there are words that are very fixed and unchangeable, no matter how we want them to be.
The MAGA crowd is claiming that the people who participated in the No King's protests are "insurrectionists".
It's funny that they chose that particular word.
Insurrectionists.
The meaning of the word is very clear:
"an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government."
What is considered a "revolt"? Luckily, there is a definition for that word too:
"an attempt to put an end to the authority of a person or body by rebelling."
Then we have to look at the definition of "protest":
"a statement or action expressing disapproval of or objection to something."
All three of these have very different meanings. Two require rebellion. What is a "rebellion?" Well, it is:
"an act of violent or open resistance to an established government or ruler."
The third is simply a statement or action that expresses an objection. It has no other action. No violence. No rebellion. No acts of rebelling.
I go through these words and their very definite meanings because MAGA wants to conflate their very obvious insurrection on Jan 6th, 2021with being seen as a peaceful protest, when 5 people died, and many more were injured on the grounds of the Capital Building, a Federally owned and operated space. Between 2,000 to 2,500 people committed a federal criminal are now trying to mute that treasonous act as a "protest".
Over 11 million people gathered peacefully on property not belonging to the Federal Government. 1 person died of gunfire by one bad actor. Another person (political affiliation unknown) drove intentionally into a crowd of protestors, and no injuries were reported.
5 people dead due to 2,500 people, 1 person dead due to 1 bad actor in 11 million people.
Don't let them try to water down their treasonous actions of Jan 6th, 2021. Don't let them try to "fit in" among the peaceful protestors. They are not peaceful. They were not protesting. The Jan 6th insurrectionists were perpetuating a riot, a revolt, a rebellionand took lives while doing so.
They are not the same as those in the No King's protest yesterday and never will be.
